Change
Change is slow and never easy, but it does come.

In India, a law that makes consensual sex between homosexuals has been decriminalized. But that does not mean that it is openly accepted.

What Matters
In the wake of Michael Jackson's death last week, there is alot of speculation, including who will become guardian to his three children.

Now it has been reported initially by TMZ(not the most credible of sources) that the real biological father of his elder son and daughter is not Michael , but his dermatologist, Arnold Klein.

This is all speculation and even if it is true, what matters most is these children. Whomever is named their guardian has a very difficult task ahead of them and what they do not need is intrusion by the media and the rest of the world.

Poor Ruth... Not
Ruth Madoff has been let off the hook for now and must live off $2.5 million dollars.

Poor Ruth....Not!

I think most of us could live off that income and I am sure her husband's victims would love to get their hands on that money.

After all, some lost their retirement, their life savings, some are on the verge of loosing their homes.

I dont have one iota of pity for her.

Fire Them
In private industry, when an employee has proved themself to be incapable and unable to perform the job they were hired to do, they are fired.

Apparently, this idea does not exist in politics.

The good for nothing senators in the New York State Senate continue to fight among themselves without any real results.

Being that I, as the average tax paying, voting citizen "hired" these politicians with my vote, that means I can fire them.

I say fire them and let's find senators who are willing to do the job we, the tax paying, voting public, hired them to do.

Empty
Do you ever feel so empty inside that all you want to do is cry?

That all of the blessings that you know you have and everything that makes you happy may seem to make you happy but it really does not?

It's Done
The newest fare hike went into effect yesterday, it's done.

On one hand, you can use one fare to travel throughought the area that metrocards are in use, day or night. 24/7, seven days a week.

However, service could be better.

Justice Has Been Served
Bernard Madoff has been found guilty and will be sentenced to 150 years in prison.

Not Just Any Holocaust Book
I finished the most amazing book last week.

It's called Sarah's Key, the author is Tatiana de Rosnay.

The story has two stories that begin totally different but come together in a way that is unexpected and powerful.

The first story is of Sarah, a young Jewish girl who deported with her family from Paris in july of 1942. Sarah pushes her younger brother into their secret hiding place, promising to return soon. The second story is of American expat Julia Jarmond living with her husband and daughter in modern day Paris. She is assigned to do a story on the Vel De Hiv, which was a sports stadium where Jews were held before transported to Auchwitz.

I won't give anything else away, but I will tell you that it is no ordinary Holocaust novel.

Call It What It Is
A democracy is defined as : 1. government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.
2. a state having such a form of government: The United States and Canada are democracies.
3. a state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges.
4. political or social equality; democratic spirit.
5. the common people of a community as distinguished from any privileged class; the common people with respect to their political power.

I would not call Iran a democracy.

Lets call it what it is: a dictatorship.

It's Interesting
It's interesting that in the death of Michael Jackson, we are starting to remember the music, the entertainer that he was, instead of the controversy.

Does it really take death to remember the good someone did in their lives and forget the bad?
